Newsmakers Broadcasting and Communications Pvt Ltd will host the seventh edition of the ‘Newsmakers Achievers Award 2016’ on May, 1 2016 at Police Gymkhana, Marine Drive. The awards are being held to recognise the efforts of common man who has made some difference to the society through their hardwork and determination. However, this time, we will be providing financial assistance to the kin of farmers who have committed suicide due to poor monsoon, drought and loan burden. Maharashtra has been reeling under severe drought since last four years. Around 3,228 farmers have committed suicide in the state last year. Therefore this year, we have taken a small step to provide some relief to farmers who have been affected due to drought. On this occasion, we will also be felicitating eminent personalities from various walks of life.
Veteran actress Lily Patel, former supermodel Adriane (Anna) Bredemeyer and Dr Kanak Rele will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Senior Advocate Abha Singh will receive the Best Lawyer Award. Dr Rashmi Shetty will be honoured with the Best Doctor award. The award for Best Union leader will be bagged by Shiv Sena leader Arvind Sawant. Anil Galgali will receive the best RTI activist award. Dr Ramegowda will be honoured with the best IAS officer award. Dr. Anshuman Manaswi will receive the best surgeon of the year award. Satsang Parivar will be honoured with the Best NGO award.
Vaibhav Swami will receive the Best Journalist (Print) award. Abhijeet Rane will be felicitated with the Best Revolutionary Journalist award. Dharmendra Jore will be honoured with Best Journalist (Politics) award. Sudha Chandran will receive the Best TV actress award. Shishir Sharma will receive the Best TV Actor award.
Vaibbhav Tatwawdi will receive the Best Marathi Actor award. Smita Tambe will be felicitated with Best Marathi Actress award. Shubi Sharma will receive the Best Bhojpuri Actress award. Shibani Kashyap will be felicitated with the Best Singer award. Neeta Lulla will be honoured with Best Fashion Designer award.
Vaidehi Taman, Group Editor of NBC said, “We tried to set a trend by establishing a self-funded organization with assistance of working journalists. This is the only parallel media existing at the moment. Since most of the media organization is owned by corporate, politicians there is too much interference in its functioning. Today media has lost its independence.”
“We have pulled our socks with this 7th year, soon to hit long days of our glorious journey, we stand up with the pride of being what we are today and will continue carrying on with it. Any hurdles may come but we are committed to being… unstoppable,” she added.
Starting from a modest beginning our organisation has overcome several hurdles to complete seven years. Within a short span of time NBC has become a force to reckon and has earned a name for itself in the media industry.
