Aiyar at his lowest ebb

Mani Shankar Aiyar is not an angel. This is not the first time Aiyar’s comments have left the Congress red-faced. In November 1998, Aiyar, who was then Congress spokesperson, called BJP stalwart Atal Bihari Vajpayee an useless leader. His ‘chai wallah’ label for PM Modi in the run up to 2014 Lok Sabha election became a rallying point for BJP campaign. After Modi became Prime Minister, Aiyar went to Pakistan and met some Pakistanis. All these things are available on social media. In that meeting, he is seen discussing with Pakistanis that until Modi is not removed from the way, relations between India and Pakistan cannot improve, a sarcastic comment giving our old enemy food for thought. This conversation took place three years ago. The Congress party had tried to suppress this episode as in other cases. They did not take any action against him for last three years. It is very difficult to hide a big size pumpkin under the carpet and it is time to make things open. The issue has become a cannon fodder for BJP to go ahead before the Gujarat Elections.
