Kouachi brothers had “almost cancelled” the attack on the office of French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo as one of them was rendered bed-ridden due to a stomach ailment just a day before they carried the deadly rampage that killed 12 people, reports said on Thursday.

One of the gunmen brothers named Said Kouachi came under the attack of a ‘virulent stomach bug’ and was unwell the entire day on Jan 6 – a day before the Jan 7 attack on Charlie Hebdo office.

However, the gunman took tablets and was healed enough to be able to go the shocking killing spree that left 12 people, including eight cartoonists, dead.

Kouachi brothers, who attacked the French weekly due to Prophet Mohammed cartoons, were trained by al Qaeda.

The leaked police report also revealed that Said Kouchi told his wife Soumya that he was going to meet his brother and would be back ‘this evening or tomorrow’.

However, Said Kouachi met his brother Cherif Kouachi and staged the heinous attack on the French weekly’s office. The report also says that a day before the attack, Cherif Kouachi met with Amedy Coulibaly – the Islamic State-inspired gunman who carried out further attacks in France, killing a policewoman and four others at a Jewish supermarket store.
