Corruption in Film Division

It is naïve to suggest today that only one “Kumar” is corrupt in the entire film division and he was the only one took the money while others merely took a toffee . How simplistic is it? Almost all government departments have agents, some well connected with outsiders and some retired ex- employees. In most of the cases, the officers do not want to talk to you because they suspect you and they will only talk through the agents. In the recent case, it appears Mr Kumar did not “share” and got into trouble , otherwise do you think producers can sleep well without dispensing bribes?

The news that Shri Nitin Gadkari is planning some drastic change in RTO is encouraging. However, now is not the time merely to plan. Implementation (even bit by bit) of the plan is what the people now want to see in reality. Programme implementation must commence. It has been reported that Rajasthan has set up a Skill Development Centre, other states must also do the same. Let us have good, skilled work force, trained by good workers who may even be drawn from other countries.

The time has come when we must scrutinise the recruitment process of the IAS officers. Presently, people get recruited for IAS merely by mugging text books. Our Maharashtra CM laments that he needs good IAS officers. First of all, we should allow only those male candidates who have two years experience in national service. I wonder why BJP and RSS do not consider this while talking of nationalism 24×7.

Under Ministry of Defense, we must set up National Service section which will select and mobilise the training of youth. If a sense of National Pride is injected in them, they will become hard working citizens. We encourage corruption in India as we do nothing about the accumulation of wealth by a handful of people. The Chairman of the Censor Board might have been tempted by the wealth filmmakers have. He might have thought why he was not equally rich. He might have thought that he cannot act in films but can make money in the process of certifying the films. For him, it is only the money that matters, in whichever manner he acquires it.

His greed secured him a place in the front page of the newspaper. After all, if wealthy people find their name in the front page of the newspaper, why should he be left behind?
