Hanuman Mandir at Malad AVBrihanmumbai Muncipal Corporation (BMC) had undertaken a road widening work at Malad (W) due to rising vehicular traffic in the area. It becomes difficult for pedestrians to walk on this stretch during morning and evening peak hours. BMC had sent a notice to the Hanuman temple authorities for demolishing the temple. Local residents had protested against this move and urged BJP MP Gopal Shetty to stop the demolition of the structure. Shetty then discussed this matter with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Fadnavis then asked officials to stop the demolition of the temple.

“This temple is sixty years old and people often visit it to seek blessings of Lord Hanuman. Therefore its demolition work must be stopped taking into consideration people’s religious sentiments. I had asked the CM to intervene in this issue and he assured me of halting the demolition work,” said Gopal Shetty.
