The difference between bold and stupid, hailing woman power!

Today when I look around female celebrities and politicians, I just felt like recalling the time. The ‘Time’ tells and endorses who are the most influential people. No, I am not talking about the entity ‘time’, but the Time magazine. Just like Forbes, the Time magazine has got up their reviews high publicly for endorsing people who have done good work for the society or someone who are most influential for the people. In recent articles, I saw that Time did not dare to cut Putin’s face with their logo; the Soviet epic leader too was listed, by the way. Anyway, from the list of influential people, it even mentioned about Mamata Banerjee. Mamata is the woman power of India following are mostly-S-lettered Sushma Swaraj, Sonia Gandhi, Sheila Dixit and late Jayalalithaa.

I would like to rephrase that was Sushma Swaraj, Sonia Gandhi and Jayalalithaa, considering that we are talking about women who actually tried to (or actually) made a great difference. Mamata is on the roll, the founder of Trinamool Congress (TMC) came to power by ousting 34 year old CPI (M) rule! The same woman who struggled without her personal life in public and she is the woman who walked in simple clothing with highest of attitude. She has been on the drive of proving her ‘awesomeness’ by slamming the critics and especially CPM. The West Bengal Chief Minister might have been involved in controversies lately but, that has only strengthened her position in front of her people. The Chief Minister of West Bengal might not have delivered the economical results as yet but, she has certainly won the hearts of her people irrespective of the results she has come up with.

With the wake of women powering up in our country, many women has misunderstood the difference between being bold and being stupid. A typical example is Poonam Pandey asking to go ‘way beyond’ her roles so far to appear “more bold” and then we have Playboy star Sherlyn Chopra who doesn’t ask to go ‘way beyond’ her roles but still has managed to get that bold tag on her. The difference comes with attitude about how to do it, not with what you do. Another example, from the dirtier topic, politics, Sushma Swaraj (when in opposition) issued a ‘bold’ statement that she will go bald if Sonia Gandhi becomes the Prime Minister. Following her statement, many “fans” uploaded photoshopped pictures of Sushma Swaraj with her bald head which were soon taken down.

Mamata has been grabbing headlines recently following her claims of CPI(M) strategizing to kill her. She alleged that the party is behind the rapes occurring in West Bengal and of course for attempting to close down Ponzi scam businesses. She has a valid point all through however, alleging CPI(M) behind everything may or may not be true. But, on the other hand, Marxists had a greater chance of proving their abilities in actually ‘developing’ a state rather than just ruling the state this is one of the reasons, why their kingdom was knocked down by a ‘woman’. Woman safety has been an issue in our country since the beginning of Mughal era, not just in 19th or 20th century but the safety of women has always been under question in our country since the beginning, the very beginning.

India had great woman rulers who ruled their kingdom with all the might without any complaints from the citizens under that reign. But, on some occasions, I would definitely blame the internet to have provoked men with ideas to storm up the assault. What Mamata Banerjee said might be correct that, people who talk a lot about rape are somewhere associated with pornography. It is the basic human nature to be violent and angry, the act of survival, one of the reasons why pride of the jungle has to hunt down daily. She also pointed that ’eminent’ people who dress up and appear on talk show are somewhere related to pornography. Well, that would not be the right statement but from what I understand, she means to condemn the mention of rapes and gang-rapes in talk shows because all they do by discussing these topics is to garner people’s attention and the channel operator gets their TRPs. She said, it is not talk show, it is money show! Somewhere she is right but not on accusations that she made. She also mentioned that people are talking freely about the unfortunate event because they are owned by CPM, they insult mothers and sisters and also brothers of the state. Many people who never had an idea of rapes are not getting the ideas about it through this.

As mentioned earlier, a good chief minister is the one who thinks good about the state and welfare of people, bring up solutions to daily problems and they have won their hearts. Late Jayalalithaa addressed such smaller issue of drinking water and she had introduced Rs. 10 Amma Mineral Water, after her Rs. 1 idli. What else does the people of state need? Pure water is a problem everywhere, gone are the days when tap water via filter was enough to prevent health issues, keeping up with trend, she has taken a good step ahead but then again, isn’t fresh water already a necessity which government should consider?

Though it is not women’s day, nor is it gender discrimination or superiority but, just giving a high-five to all the girl friends and re-telling them the events happening in our country with a pinch of womanhood in them!
