Government sanctions Rs. 7 crore rehabilitation plan for Pune village

Pune-VillageMaharashtra cabinet today approved a Rs. seven crore plan for the rehabilitation of those affected by the landslide at Malin village in Pune district.

Over 150 people died in the village, located in a hilly area, when heavy rain triggered a landslide on July 30.

Officials said that cabinet approved the rehabilitation plan submitted by the Pune district collector.

Accordingly, 30 families will be given temporary sheds which would cost Rs. one lakh each, while 72 families will be provided with pucca houses which would cost Rs. two lakh each.

Eight acres of land at the cost of Rs. four lakh per acre will be purchased for construction of new houses for the affected families.

Rs. five crore would be spent on other basic amenities. Social Justice department would spend Rs. one crore on construction of a community centre and a compound wall.

The district collector has been authorised to monitor the rehabilitation work which would be completed in a year’s time, officials said. The expenditure limit can be extended up to Rs. ten crore if the need arises.
