While talks are going on for simultaneous elections for Lok Sabha and all state-assemblies, Election Commission has taken wrong decision by separating elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh where terms of both state-assemblies are to end in January 2018. If elections in Himachal Pradesh were necessitated on an early date in November 2018 because of forthcoming season of snow-fall, elections in Gujarat could also be preponed to coincide with elections in Himachal Pradesh. However, it is good that Election Commission has decided to keep counting-date for elections in Himachal Pradesh on December 18, 2017 so that election-results of Himachal Pradesh may not affect those of Gujarat.
