Hepatitis claims witnessed a 5 per cent drop in 2015-16 over the previous two financial years, ICICI Lombard said in a report.
The private sector non-life insurer received 29.71 per cent Hepatitis claims in the year gone by from 34.81 per cent a year ago.
It had received 35.48 per cent claims under the segment in fiscal 2014, a company statement said.
According to the report, a larger number of claims was witnessed in the higher age band in the last fiscal, whereas fiscal 2015 saw larger number of claims across age groups.
Claims from age group of above 75 years at 38.46 per cent were higher in 2015-16, from 15.38 per cent in fiscal 2015, it added.
Surat in Gujarat witnessed highest number of Hepatitis claims (51 per cent) in 2015-16, followed by Bhopal (45 per cent), Vadodara (39 per cent) and Mumbai (35 per cent).
Higher number of claims (48 per cent) came from top ten cities vis-a-vis other cities, it said, adding that the trend was opposite in the previous fiscal.
