Senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh has reportedly warned the party that he will fight as an Independent if he is not allowed to contest from the Barmer seat.

On Thursday said that Singh is upset with the party for delaying a decision on the Barmer seat.

The party insiders claim that the veteran BJP leader is keen on contesting the upcoming 2014 Lok Sabha elections from the Barmer seat but Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia wants her close confident Colonel Sona Ram to contest from there.

Jaswant Singh, who has been contesting from the Darjeeling seat, had earlier expressed his desire to contest from his native town Barmer.

“It has been a pleasure to contest from Darjeeling but this will be my last election so I want to go back to my home-town,” he had said while speaking to reporters recently.

The BJP central leadership is trying to resolve the impasse over the Barmer seat but nothing has been finalised as yet.

The BJP, which is grappling with protests by party workers over tickets to ‘outsiders’, is also trying hard to placate veteran leadr LK Advani who is adamant on contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Bhopal and not from the Gandhinagar seat, which he represented five times.
