MMRC appoints consultants for Colaba-Bandra-Seepz metro

Colaba-Bandra-Seepz-metroThe Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) today appointed general consultants to assist it during the process of implementation of the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz metro corridor.

MMRC has signed an agreement with a consortium of consultants led by Hong Kong-based Aecom Asia and includes Japanese firm Padeco, LBG from the USA and France-based Egis Rail for the project, a statement issued here stated.

“I always appreciate when projects move ahead with the required urgency and this 33.5 km Colaba-Bandra-Seepz metro-3 corridor is showing promise. Our aim is to complete this project within the scheduled time frame,” Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, in whose presence the agreement was signed, said.

The scope of work includes evaluation of bids for civil work and assist in appointing contractors, review and proof checking of detailed designs, preparing tender design and documents for procurement of track work, rolling stock, system components, supervision of supply and installation, system integration, testing and commissioning of system components, supervise works and ensure safety, quality and environmental aspects.

“The consultants will be assisting us during the entire implementation of this crucial project on various fronts and will provide the required impetus to the implementation of the corridor,” MMRC Managing Director Ashwini Bhide said.

“Their expertise, technical knowhow and experience will help us complete the project in time,” she said.

The consultants have been appointed as was agreed and decided at the time of loan appraisal with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on the quality-and-cost-based selection, the release said.
