All politicians irrespective of party demand stringent action to be taken against him for insulting Lata Mangeshkar and Sachin Tendulkar.
Political parties have slammed All India Bakchod (AIB) comedian Tanmay Bhat for his video showing disrespect to national icons singer Lata Mangeshkar and batting legend Sachin Tendulkar. The Maharashtra Navirman Sena has already filed a complaint against Tanmay and has threatened to thrash him. The video named ‘Sachin vs Lata Civil War’ issue already has gone viral on social media and has evoked sharp reactions from netizens. Many of them said that Tanmay’s video has made a mockery of eminent personalites like Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar. Citizens had burnt the effigy of Tanmay and chanted slogans against him in Nashik and other parts of the state. BJP and Shiv Sena has demanded for the deletion of the video from online medium and called for stringent action to be taken against its creators.
Shiv Sena spokesperson Neelam Gorhe, condemned Tanmay for his ‘derogatory’ humour and said, “After seeing the video I have sent across a memorandum to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, since the language used (by Tanmay) is downright disrespectful. I have also forwarded a mail to the CM regarding the issue as two national icons have been insulted in a filthy manner.”
“Both (Sachin and Lata) have been mocked in a bad way as this video clearly shows the violation of dignity in a free country like India’s. This is blatant misuse of social media and I do expect that action be taken against Tanmay. Also auto regulation of social media needs to be done henceforth as Section 66A of the IT Act has been struck down by the Supreme Court (SC). Appropriate action needs to be taken by the authorities regarding this issue,” she added.
When asked about the ‘humour’ involved in the video, BJP spokesperson Shaina NC said, “There is a difference between safe and vulgar humour and Tanmay has crossed the line with this video. It is downright disrespectful of him (Tanmay) to have insulted two national icons and maybe even have the better sense to withdraw the content and apologize to both Sachin and Lata didi. It is definitely wrong to comment on the physical attributes of someone like Lata didi who is considered as a legend in the country.”
“It is wrong on part of the MNS to react to the situation with ‘dadagiri’ as no one has the right to hit someone. The party should let the law take it’s correct course by registering their complaint and see Tanmay brought to task” she added.
MNS Chitrapat Sena chief Amey Khopkar threatened to “beat” Tanmay wherever he was visible and stop his shows in the state. He said, “How can you disrespect such people who have been honoured with the Bharat Ratna? We have already urged the state government to arrest Tanmay and teach him a lesson.”
Maharashtra Navirman Sena vice-president Shalini Thackeray virtually laid siege at the Cyber Cell Branch of Mumbai police vowing not to vacate the premises till Bhat was arrested.
Mumbai BJP President Ashish Shelar said, “Tanmay has insulted national icons like Sachin and Lata Mangeshkar. I have already spoken to the Police Commissioner and sought action against Bhat and AIB.”
Nationalist Congress Party state spokesperson Nawab Malik termed the AIB video “in extremely bad taste” and demanded severest action against the perpetrators who have insulted two Bharat Ratna laureates.
Meanwhile the Mumbai Police Special Branch is already probing into the complaint filed against Tanmay.
“The Special Branch is inquiring into the complaint against AIB,” said DCP, PRO Mumbai Police Sangram Singh Nishandar.
“In touch with Google, Facebook and Youtube to block #TanmayBhat ‘s video and also find out IP address,” ACP Yashwant Pathak, Cyber crime cell said.
Former IPS officer Y. P. Singh said, “The offence is being repeated, this is a very serious matter. Such an accused person should be immediately placed under custodial interrogation and should be put up for trial in the court of law so that he could be punished as per the provision of law.”
