The National Green Tribunal slapped notice on the Maharashtra Government and private companies instructing them that sanitary napkins and diapers manufacturers are violating laws by not providing pouches or wrappers for disposing them. The complaint has been filed to press a valid point. The pouches which provide ultra – vires of solid waste and it is against the Act framed in 2016. Napkins and diapers of a majority brands are non-biodegradable because of plastic polymers used in their manufacture. Taking a serious cognisance of the plea, NGT takes a call and insist for pouches for sanitary napkins. Persons fighting against GST on sanitary napkins and not much worried about disposing it off in pouches to maintain cleanliness. It is time to press home advantage of pouches for napkins as we are seriously following Swacch Bharat initiative in a very big way.
