Actor Regina Hall is in negotiation to star alongside Samuel L Jackson in “Shaft” sequel.
Tim Story is directing the movie, which is seen as a continuation of the story of the private detective that first appeared in the 1971 blaxploitation action film that became a pop culture phenomenon, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Jackson is reprising the role he first played in John Singleton’s 2000 update, with Jessie T Usher playing Shaft’s son.
Richard Roundtree is set to reprise his role as Shaft, while Alexandra Shipp is also returning for the film.
Kenya Barris and Alex Barnow have written the script for the sequel.
