It is surprising that Anil Kumble, a distinguished achiever as a player and as head coach of the Indian team for the last one year delivering outstanding results, has chosen to part ways from the National team with great dignity. He has shown his mettle as a strong “technician” of Cricket in the field, and a tough fighter. Kumble has his emotional three years where he had to face opposition from members but pressed on with his agenda to improve cricket infrastructure at grassroots level. He is a great person in the first place, a great cricketer and possesses all the qualities a leader should have. He hasn’t shied away from responsibility. Jumbo has experience and has shown great strength of character in difficult situations. He is highly respected, non-controversial and richly deserved for the job. The former Indian captain can carry the team and mould it to achieve the results. No doubt, he might be having a little tough in controlling the known tempered players but he has groomed the team well. Kudos to Kumble for his immense contribution which enabled India to attain the No.1 position in Test cricket. Authorities must think over to bring back Kumble as our Indian cricket needs his continued contribution in various capacities.
