The model had posted several obscene comments against Sunil Paraskar on social networking sites before complaining against him. She tried to meet Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria several times.
The Malwani Police have booked the Mumbai Police IPS officer Sunil Paraskar in connection with the rape case filed by a Mumbai based model. Currently,Paraskar is posted as Deputy Inspector General (protection of civil rights unit) but he is yet to be arrested.Earlier he was posted in the North region as an Additional Commissioner of Police. The probe has been handed over to the women’s cell of the crime branch headed by Deputy Commissioner ShardaRaut.
The model has complained that she used to meet Paraskar for some work when he was posted inthe north region. She has alleged that she was taken to a hotel in Malwani where she was raped on severaloccasions.
Initially, the model complained with theMumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria, following which he ordered a probe and FIR was registered against Paraskar. According to sources from the Mumbai police she also had submitted proof in support of her claim.
Earlier the model tweeted on 3rd July accusing Sunil Paraskarand his officer for harassing and torturing her.
In a tweet she said, “I have been tortured, harassed by Ex-Additional Commissioner Sunil Paraskar, his officer Manish Nalawde4 Month in my own lookalike case.”
After few hours she tweeted, “I am not a powerful girl. It was not easy for me to tweet this but I have decided to take a public stand now.”
The next day on 14th June, the model accused Mumbai police and Paraskar for not taking her complaint seriously. She tweeted, “Mumbai Police keNaampeDhabha #Sunil Paraskar.” Another tweet followed on the same day, “Shame on #Mumbai Police. I had sent them this complaint dated 13th Feb 2014 but no result till date.”
The model also alleged Sunil Paraskar to be modelPoonamPandey’sboy friend.She tweeted, “#PoonamPandeyBoyfreind #Sunil Paraskar the police himself got her arrested, and her released to give her Publicity. They both die for Publicity.”
She again tweeted on the same day hinting Sunil Paraskar to face more trouble in future. In her Tweet she said, “Yehtohsirf trailer hai…Picture abhiBaki hey Mere dost….”
Same day while tweeting model mentioned that she and her family are being threatened. She tweeted, “I Don’t drink… I have been harassed for 6 Months… Even my family was…”
The model sent letter to Sunil Paraskar on 15th July through her advocate for harassing and torturing her and for failing to replying to the complaint letter filed by her on 8th July. In the subject, it was mentioned that, “Your (Sunil Paraskar) deliberate and wilful criminal acts of Misusing your position and power to (a)mentally harass my client and use her name to get publicity (b) to try and extort money from her and (c) to overly communicate with her in an absolutely unprofessional and informal manner with intentions which are prima facie evident.”
Many attempts were made to contact Sunil Paraskar, but he remained unavailable for comment.
Deputy Commissioner of Police and Mumbai Police spokesperson Mahesh Patil said, “As of now instruction has been issued for probing this matter. We will conduct fair investigation and accordingly we will work.”
