Sheila as chief ministerial candidate

Your front page report “Get ready to help Sheila Dikshit” reveals the fact that  Congress has no clear and strong face to project as Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Ministerial candidate. No doubt, Sheila had steered the Congress to three consecutive election wins in Delhi which clearly shows that she carries strong track record with immense experience and good work in heading the Delhi Government. Congress has taken the right decision and winning is not the only criteria but it is necessary to move forward and remain politically correct. It is observed that the Congress generally avoids announcing its chief-ministerial candidates in poll-bound states. But it chose to make an exception in Uttar Pradesh, the largest state in the country. Talented leaders exist in Congress but to its dismay no one has the opportunity to lead the party from the front. For regaining power, Congress needs to widen its scope of decision making and connect with voters.
