Harshwardhan Jadhav AVShiv Sena is keen to challenge its alliance partner BJP by contesting the Gujarat assembly polls. Sena which is known as Mumbai centric party is planning to expand its foothold in other regions of the country. Therefore, some ministers of the party will campaign in Gujarat for connecting with voters. Of late, Sena has become insecure due to BJP’s growth in Maharashtra and other parts of the country. Hence, the party is making strategies to strengthen itself outside its home turf. The relation between Sena and BJP has strained as the party expresses its displeasure over the functioning of its senior ally through its mouthpiece ‘Saamna’. The party will field its candidates from 50-75 seats. Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray is likely to address a rally in Gujarat. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena MLA from Aurangabad, Harshvardhan Jadhav alleged that BJP had offered him Rs 5 crore to quit Sena and join BJP. He blamed the BJP for indulging in horse-trading activities by offering 5 crore each to 25 MLAs of Sena.

When AV spoke to Harshvardhan Jadhav, Shiv Sena, MLA he said, “People have failed to read the original statements made by me. Even though approvals have been sanctioned for development work but Chandrakant Patil has failed to release tender for them. BJP had asked me to contest election and had promised to pay me lump sum money. Instead of indulging in horse-trading activities, BJP should work for development to win the confidence of voters. I am more concerned about the work being done in my constituency instead of bothering about what is happening in other states. Shiv Sena MLA’s are being granted less amount as compared to BJP for carrying out development work.”

Ashok Bhau Jadhav AVAshok Bhau Jadhav, former Congress MLA said, “Shiv Sena is playing the role of opposition by remaining with BJP led government in the state. Definitely BJP is using money power to win gram panchayat election and municipal election. People are not happy with the double standards adopted by Sena by playing dual role within the government. Therefore, I don’t think that Sena’s campaign will have any effect on the outcome of Gujarat assembly polls.”

Mayor Dimple Mehta AVDimple Mehta, Mayor from Mira-Bhayander said, “Our party activists are doing a good job and they remain dedicated towards the party. Even though BJP had taken tough decisions like GST traders are unhappy but still these steps were taken in the interest of the nation. I don’t think that Shiv Sena can pose a challenge to BJP in Gujarat. According to me, Sena leaders will not switch loyalties towards BJP.”

Arvind Bhosle AVArvind Bhosale, Shiv Sena spokesperson said, “The government lacks funds for granting loan waiver to farmers. People are unhappy with BJP’s performance and Shiv Sena is only trying to convey people’s message to BJP while campaigning for Gujarat assembly polls.”

Madhav Bhandari AVMadhav Bhandari, BJP spokesperson
said, “The allegations made by Shiv Sena against BJP are baseless and they are only raising this issue to derive political mileage.”

When asked about the allegations made against Sena of playing the role of opposition by remaining with BJP he replied, “You should ask this question to Shiv Sena as they will be in a better position to answer this.”
