They are turning co-incidence into ‘love –jihad’ story

Meerut gangrape has become a big issue. Two communities were standing against each other with open sword, thirsty for the other’s blood. There was a lot of outrage on social media, people were divided in two groups here. Some were sure that this is a fake case imposed on certain community to initiate riots while other was cursing for forced conversion in the name of Love Jihad. A 20-year-old girl who said she was raped and coerced into converting to Islam at Sarawa village, 60 km east of Delhi, belonged to a distressed upper caste family and knew the accused, belonging to the Muslim community in the same village. Girl belongs to UP’s conservative Brahmin family. I wonder, how her family allowed her to work in Madrasa, for the mere salary of Rs. 1,200 by teaching Hindi and English at a Madrasa located about 500 metres away from her house in a Meerut village. She began her teaching career there last July and then continues part-time in April so that she could devote her time to studies as she was appearing for her BA final-year exams.

Let’s assume, they believed in their daughter’s decision to teach in the local Madrasa Sultania and her close friendship with a Muslim girl, who is recently arrested as an accused in the case, who has allegedly led her into a trap. Can a teacher be brainwashed? Nothing can happen in one day or suddenly, if they began to condition her mind towards their religion, she might complain to her parents or she would have quit the job immediately. However, she has not done that. She told in video footage that she was repeatedly threatened that if she reveals her ordeal to anyone, the power of the Koran would destroy her and her family. How can a teacher get convinced with such stories, who believed in Hindu religion for 20 years? She said she was lured with the promise of permanent job. This is heights; in entire Uttar Pradesh, she could not get single job in any other schools. If she could not then she could have taken private classes.

Her best friend was Muslim, who helped her in all her ups and downs, and then she went away from home on July 23 giving some excuse to her parents and retuned on July 27th . The girl was pregnant by her boyfriend; she terminated that pregnancy. Two boys, one her boyfriend and the other one his friend who find no mention in her complaint, accompanied her to the hospital: one a Muslim and the other Hindu. The police have also found that the surgery did not take place in Muzzaffarnagar as stated by the girl, but in Meerut, her hometown itself. On July 29, the girl left home again, which first led to a missing complaint and three days later, when she returned, a complaint of abduction and rape was registered. She said she was forced to convert in the meanwhile. Now the question is, if she had gone through rape and surgery during 23rd July to 27th July then why she went with those people again on 29th? Why only Hindu girls fall in trap? What is wrong with Hindu families upbringing? Is our religion so weak that girls are getting trapped?

When Chandramohan, U.P. spokesperson of the BJP visited the victim’s family with party State president Laxmikant Vajpai, they made this co-incidence into love –jihad story. The Hindu-dominated village that had elected a Muslim village head is now divided on religious lines, with Nawab Khan, the head himself, under arrest as an accused in the case. Their biggest mistake was to appoint a lady teacher in Madrasa; that to, allowing a Hindu girl was big blunder. As per court records, victim herself gave an application in court to change her religion, but now she is leveling allegations. Probe should be concluded first and the media should be more responsible in reporting the facts truly. We should wait for investigations. Even in Badaun case, we saw how the case changed its direction. All this is a conspiracy to defame the Uttar Pradesh government, initiated by the central government and carried out by the BJP.

Surprisingly, a day after the alleged gangrape and forceful conversion of a young woman in a Madrasa came to light, she also gave interviews to media. In interviews, she was sounding quite determined and composed. She partially exposed her face too. If she can talk so courageously then why she couldn’t make her medical reports public? When she was abducted on July 27 then why missing complaint was registered after two days on the 29th? Moreover, the girl has stated that there were at least 40-50 other girls in the Madrasa held similarly. If the teacher has to be believed this could be clear case of human trafficking then why no one has tried rescuing those girls? Why the custodians of Hindutva were banking on this rape case rather than trying to rescue those girls? The news itself says the rape and surgery had not happened in the same day. The victim has worked in the Madrasa for one month after the rape incident and the issue was reported. It looks very strange this coming from an educated woman. Even the victim is giving all contradictory statements on the issue. If you go through her statement published in various newspapers and websites, I’m sure you will be surprised.
