In a fresh twist, Mumbai Police is now suspecting that huge money trail is involved in the mysterious Sheena Bora murder case. Cops are investigating whether Sanjeev Khanna, the ex-husband of Indrani Mukerjea – who allegedly killed Sheena – was paid heavily for proceeding with the murder.
Notably, Sanjeev Khanna, who ran a cable business in Kolkata, among others, received a substantial sum of money from an undisclosed source soon after Sheena was murdered on April 24, 2012.
The police will now scan all of Khanna’s financial transactions after that date to determine if this was a payment for his participation in the crime.
A senior police officer said, “We will investigate all possible angles, including the financial transactions [between Indrani and Sanjeev] to find out the real motive behind the murder.”
Earlier in the day, Mumbai police brought Mikhail Bora, the brother of Sheena Bora, to Mumbai for the investigation into his sister’s killing.
A two-member police team escorted Bora from his home state of Assam on a flight to Mumbai, after he was quizzed at his Guwahati home on Thursday.
In the past couple of days, attention has been drawn to Mikhail’s claims that he knows a lot more about his sister Sheena’s killing and has promised to give all evidence to the police to nail their mother Indrani Mukerjea, who is among three people arrested by the Mumbai police.
