A 35-year-old woman, who was allegedly gang-raped in a moving car by three men after being abducted from Haryana’s Gurgaon on Monday night, recorded her statement with Noida Police, officials said on Tuesday.

She was pulled inside a moving Swift car around 8:30 pm from Sohna in Gurgaon and gang-raped. The accused thereafter drove the woman to Greater Noida and threw her close to a police station in Kasna.

She shared the story of what happened with locals who informed the Gautambudh Nagar police.

“Some beer bottles were found at the spot which indicates that the accused persons were drunk,” a senior Greater Noida police officer said.

The police took her for a medical examination. “We are in the process of recording her statements,” the officer said.

The woman, who belonged to Bharatpur in Rajasthan, said she had been walking near her residence in Sohna on Monday night when she was pulled into a car by the men.

Senior Superintendent of Police Love Kumar said although she sustained some abrasions on her body, they were awaiting a final medical examination.

“A team of officers have taken her to Sohna from where she was allegedly abducted,” the officer said.

Gurgaon police commissioner Sandeep Khirwar, deputy commissioner of police (Crime) Sumit Kuhar, and DCP (East) Deepak Saharan were present at the Sector 29 police station as the woman recorded her statement in the presence of a woman lawyer as per the legal norms.

Khirwar said that the matter was under investigation and he will brief the media later.

An official said they got the information about the incident at 3am and immediately took the woman, who was spotted crying in front of Yatharth Hospital under the jurisdiction of Kasna police station, to a hospital for medical examination.

Following the incident, women activist Annie Raja on Tuesday lashed out at the Chief Ministers of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh for creating a fear among the women of the country. Annie Raja said it was an example of the failure of both governments.

“Both the places the BJP is governing. Such incidents are happening regularly in these states, but no action has been taken as yet. Why the governments of both thess states are not deploying more security. They have created a fear in the minds of the women. On that account, they are very successful. It is very shameful that they are not serious and are not taking any steps to prevent such things,” she added.
