32 killed as bus falls into Jhelum river in J&K

AccidentAt least 32 people were killed when a bus carrying members of a marriage party fell into an overflowing Jhelum river in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

Eye-witnesses said there were 50-60 people inside the bus.

Six are reported to have swam to safety.

“Six passengers have survived and 32 people have died,” the official said.

Police said the bus went out of the driver’s control and plunged into the river near Noushera town of Rajouri district.

The state is on flood alert following incessant rains.

At least 12 have been killed in rain related incidents over the past few days.
