AAPBuoyed by the response it received from the fund-raising event in Mumbai last month, the AAP will again hold a similar event in that city, but this time it will be with three former ministers in the 49-day AAP government and not its chief Arvind Kejriwal.

The party will hold a fund-raising event at Mumbai on January 9 where Somnath Bharti, Saurabh Bharadwaj and Satyendra Jain will give a talk on implementation of Swaraj during AAP’s rule. Party sympathiser and Roadies fame Raghu Ram would be hosting the event.

“They will share their experiences both as MLAs in implementing ‘Swaraj’ and as ministers in the 49-day government,” said a party source.

Interestingly, Kejriwal will be busy campaigning in the national capital. Bharti handled law, Bharadwaj looked after transport while Jain handled health portfolios in the then AAP government and are known faces of the party.

Maharashtra has always been one of the top donors and contributes a large chunk to the party, even during the LokSabha and now the assembly election. Last month when fund raising “Dinner with Kejriwal” was arranged in Mumbai, it fetched more than Rs. 91 lakh from a single event. The amount was almost double to what the party received donations from a similar event held in Delhi.

“Its a fund raising event and we hope to raise donations for the upcoming events,” Bharti said.

Meanwhile, in another fund-raising campaign launched by Kejriwal ‘I Fund Honest Politics’ on Friday, under which he nominated 10 people to donate money for the party, the initiative has fetched Rs. 49 lakh in three days. This also includes 200 new donors.

Kejriwal himself donated Rs. 10,000 for the event and nominated 11 people including actress and party leader GulPanag and his sister and brother.

Some 1559 have participated in the fund-raising campaign so far and over 15100 referral emails have been sent under this campaign, the party said.
