Adelaide to host first Test from December 9

The venue of India’s first Test against Australia has been shifted to Adelaide from Brisbane.

The visitors will play a 2-day tour match on December 4 and 5. Cricket Australia also confirmed dates of the Test series after rescheduling.

The first test between the two teams is scheduled to be played between December 9-13. Brisbane will host the second Test from December 17-2.

The series will then move to Melbourne for the third Test from December 26-30. While the fourth and final Test will be played in Sydney from January 6-10.

The Indian team was due to travel to Brisbane for the first Test, which has been canceled following the tragic death of Philip Hughes, but instead have put their travel plans on hold.

The plan to travel to Brisbane was then shelves and the team decided to stay put in Adelaide till further announcement was made by Cricket Australia.

“The Indian side will remain in Adelaide until details for the first Test have been confirmed,” Cricket Australia said in a tweet.

Stand-in skipper of the Indian team Virat Kohli will attend the funeral of Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes on Wednesday.

He will be joined by team director Ravi Shastri, Coach Duncan Fletcher and team manager Arshad Ayub.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 3, in Hughes’ hometown of Macksville.
