ModiAfter launching the ambitious ‘Make in India’ campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government is mulling launching another key campaign, ‘Read India’, reports said on Thursday.

The campaign is most likely to be launched on February 14.

As part of the project, new libraries would be opened across the country so that people from all walks of life get access to various books. However, as for now, the study centres are expected to come up in villages adopted by parliamentarians under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana’.

The Human Research Development (HRD) Ministry, headed by Smriti Irani, will be tasked with supervising the mega project.

However, it is still not clear as to from where the funds for the plan would come.

Reports say that final modalities are still being worked out for the campaign which is PM Modi’s brainchild.

In the past, the Prime Minister has launched several noble initiatives like ‘Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana’, ‘Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna’, ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ and ‘Good Governance Day’.
