An anti-encroachment drive by the Kanpur Municipal Corporation turned violent, after locals in the city’s Masvanpur area objected to the drive.
The cops were seen assaulting protesters, mostly women, as well as dragging them by grabbing their hair.
The women were being used as a human shield against the bulldozers that had reached the area to carry out demolitions.
Although the drive was suspended after the incident, no action has been taken against the cops as of now.
