The Bangalore Police on Tuesday said that the six-year-old girl was gangraped in the school premises and arrested two gym instructors in the case.
Bangalore Commissioner MN Reddi said, “This is a case of gangrape. The incident happened on July 3.”

The police has ruled out the involvement of the skating instructor Mustafa, who was also arrested in the case earlier.

Reddi said, “Mustafa was not present there at the time of crime. He was arrested because of circumstantial investigation but he has now been booked for gross misconduct in another school. ”

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Abhishek Goyal said that the investigation has not yet finished.

He said, “The case has been solved in terms of identifying culprits. Two persons, Lalgiri and Wasim Pasha, both gym teachers, have been arrested.”

He added, “The child was not in the dark room as suspected earlier when crime happened but it happened in the premises.”

The duo have been booked under Section 376 D of IPC Section 4 and 5 of POSCO (Protection of Child from Sexual Offences) Act.

The school was re-opened on Monday for classes 5 to 12 and it would be re-open for classes 1 to 4 on Wednesday. The school management has assured parents that it will meet their demands for round the clock security.

The city had witnessed widespread protests after the student was raped in the school premises on July 2. After the outrage over the incident, the parents demanded the school management follow security guidelines.

The school has taken steps like installing 76 additional CCTV cameras, raising the height of the compound wall and doing background checks of the staff. The state government and Bangalore Police have issued similar orders to all schools in the city.

Earlier, School chairperson Rustom Kerawalla was arrested, but was given a conditional bail on a surety of Rs 25,000.
