Banned drugs worth over Rs. 29 lakh seized; 3 held

In two separate cases, three drug peddlers were arrested and amphetamine, a banned party drug worth Rs. 29.34 lakh was recovered from them, police said.

According to Pydhonie police, a drug peddler Salim Mohammed Khan (23) was caught with 250 grams of amphetamine worth Rs. 20 lakh at Masjid bunder area in south Mumbai.

Khan was booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, senior inspector at the police station, Sunil Kavlekar said.

In another case, a trap was laid near Islam Gymkhana in south Mumbai when two suspected drug peddlers were found moving in the area.

The duo identified as Faijan Thakur (24) and Kamran Sayyad (30) were found in possession with 117 grams of amphetamine worth Rs 9.34 lakh along with two mobiles and Rs 22,547 in cash, said Additional Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash, whose special team nabbed the duo.

A case has been registered against the duo at Marine Drive police station under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act, police said.
