BCCI withdraws its clarification application on N Srinivasan attending BCCI meetings

SrinivasanDays after the Supreme Court rejected N Srinivasan’s plea seeking clarification whether he could attend the governing body meeting in his capacity as the president of Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), the Indian board on Monday withdrew its plea.

Srinivasan also withdrew his perjury application against BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur for allegedly giving wrong information in SC.

BCCI told the apex court that according to previous SC order, Srinivasan still stands disqualified to attend working committee meetings of the board.

The BCCI on September 12 had urged the apex court to clarify whether its former president and current International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Srinivasan should be allowed to attend the meetings as the TNCA president.

The apex cricketing body sought the clarification as court by its January 22, 2015, order had said that Srinivasan cannot contest elections for BCCI presidency as long as he is involved in “conflict of interest” as an owner of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Meanwhile on Sunday, BCCI President Shashank Manohar requested N Srinivasan to consider withdrawing the PIL filed by him against Board Secretary Anurag Thakur on allegations of perjury.

It has been learnt that Manohar told Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) representative PS Raman to convey his message to Srinivasan.
