Amid intense politics over his Ayodhya visit, Union Culture and Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma said on Tuesday that he is honoured to have visited the holy city and assured that a grand Ram Temple is not far from turning into a reality. However, BJP’s own Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Katiyar called the museum a mere “lollipop”.

“Ram Mandir ke liye prayaas hona chahiye, yeh lollipop se kuch nahi hone wala (Efforts should be made to build a Ram Temple , other projects will not do),” said Katiyar.

Katiyar said though he welcomes the step to build Ram Temple but nothing is worth the effort until the Ram Temple is constructed.

He also said that either through dialogue or by the means of legal procedure, all parties should come together to get the Ram Temple constructed in Ayodhya

“This is a good step. I welcome it. They will help Ayodhya develop. But till the time they don’t build a Ram temple in Ayodhya, you decorate the city it does not matter. All parties should come together and build the Ram temple. All parties should sort out the differences through dialogue or through legal means,” said Katiyar.

Katiyar said: “Wherever I go in Ayodhya, saints ask me when will Ram Mandir be built, good I did not go today (Union Min Mahesh Sharma’s program).”
