Amid hectic political activities in the national capital, sources from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday indicated that they are not keen on forming the government in Delhi.

Sources said since the BJP does not have majority in the Delhi Assembly, it will not accept the invitation to form the government.

The BJP reaction came after the Centre informed the Supreme Court today that the President has given the nod to Delhi LG to invite the BJP, the single largest party, to form government.

As per sources, the BJP is in favour of fresh polls and want the elections to be held in February next year.

Senior BJP leader and Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu today said that the party is prepared and whenever polls are held in Delhi, BJP will win with clear majority.

He rejected the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) charge of trying to poach its MLAs, saying there is “no question of horse trading”.

“Why will the BJP be afraid of polls? We have a very good chance of winning in Delhi with full majority,” Naidu told reporters.

Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay only said that “we will give right information at the right time”.

“Venkaiah ji is a senior leader, he has told you party’s stand,” Upadhyay told the media.

Earlier today, the AAP had slammed the BJP for seeking to form a minority government in Delhi and dared it to face fresh polls.

“If they (BJP) have even a little shame they should hold fresh elections in Delhi,” AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal said.

“If BJP had even an ounce of confidence they would have held fresh elections in the last five months,” he added.
