Can Virat Kohli break Rahul Dravid’s record in Sydney Test?

In-form batsman and new India captain Virat Kohli is on the verge of breaking yet another batting record ahead of the fourth and final Test in Sydney.

After scoring three centuries and one fifty in the first three Tests, Kohli is only 121 runs short of breaking Rahul Dravid’s record of most runs in a series against Australia.

Dravid leads the list of Indian batsmen having scored 619 runs in the 2003-04 Border-Gavaskar Trophy that ended in a draw. Kohli has amassed 499 runs so far in the on-going series Down Under.

However, the 26-year-old is behind two more batsmen in that list – Gundappa Viswanath and VVS Laxman. The duo scored 518 and 503 runs in 1979 and 2001 respectively against the Aussies.

Considering the form Kohli has displayed in the current series, there is every chance India’s new skipper will get to yet another milestone.

Though, MS Dhoni retired without a farewell Test, Virat Kohli will be silently hoping to score big and win the Sydney Test as a farewell gift to his predecessor.
