The government’s decision to hike fuel prices citing development reasons is unjustified. The opposition as usual has been protesting against the government’s policy. But citizens are the ones who shall be bearing the real brunt of this hike in prices. The people have always been the ones to carry the burden of funding development. And their load is being topped up from time to time. An unsaid dictate is expressed through the Governments actions is; if you want development then bear whatever burden that you are told to do so. Many small projects can be funded from the amount spent on advertising the above projects. When will we learn to avoid unwanted expenditure and only spend where it is necessary? The leaders should give up perks offered to them. Should only the people always be the ones to liberally contribute for the nation’s development and when will leaders emulate them? The leaders too are benefited by development that takes place just like the common man. Then why should the people only carry the burden of developmental funding?
