CM-wifeStressing that quality education should reach the economically deprived sections of society, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ wife Amruta Fadnavis on Sunday urged him to allow more pre-schools to be started for poor children in Mumbai.

“Preschool for all is becoming a necessity. Education can never be taken away or stolen. Our children are the future of our country and education should help them break all boundaries. Education should be bold, practical and free of boundaries,” Amruta said at the first annual day function of ‘Global Champs School’, an educational institution for poor and deprived children, in Dharavi slum area.

“Our children are the future of our country and education should help them break all boundaries. Quality education has to come out of purview of the privileged and reach the economically deprived sections of society,” she said.

She also said that moral education is as important as textbook education to ensure that children contribute to the development of the society instead of harming it.

“Our Global Champs pre-school centre at Dharavi was opened 10 months back. We are making quality education accessible to these children. We need many more quality pre-school centres and I urge the government to help us build more such pre-schools,” said Rajesh Bhatia, managing director at Tree House Education, a leading preschool chain.

“A research has shown that children who have had a good experience in their formative years at preschool go ahead and complete their primary and secondary schooling successfully and the dropout rate in high school falls significantly,” said the Chairman Sanjay Kulkarni added.
