A court directed the Anti-Corruption Bureau to probe allegations of corruption in transfers and postings against six persons including the former Mumbai Police Commissioner M N Singh.

Baban Jadhav, a retired policeman, has filed the complaint in the special ACB court.

Jadhav’s lawyer Ashish Mehta said that in 2000 his client had submitted a complaint to the state home ministry about rampant corruption in the police department and made allegations against the then Commissioner M N Singh.

“Jadhav filed an RTI application and got a copy of transfer orders issued illegally and other documents which could not have been issued if the proper procedure had been followed,” said Mehta.

The ministry, Mehta said, permitted Jadhav to file a complaint against the officers.

After he filed the complaint, some cases were filed against Jadhav himself. However, he was acquitted in all of them, said the lawyer.

Others named in Jadhav’s complaint are senior IPS officers S P Gupta and Ahmed Javed.
