Delhi Police to file chargesheets against Arvind Kejriwal, 20 other AAP MLAs

A report claimed on Wednesday that the Delhi Police is soon likely to file chargesheets against several Aam Aadmi Party MLAs.

The Delhi Police, following an internal investigation, found that 21 AAP MLAs have been named in 24 criminal cases registered over a period of time. These include Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia.

The police is believed to be in final stages of finishing its probe in these cases and will soon file chargesheets.

Chargesheets have already been filed against Kejriwal in six cases and probe is underway in two others. Cases have been filed against the AAP chief for holding protests despite prohibitory orders and preventing public servants from performing their duty.

A case has also been registered against Deputy CM Manish Sisodia for violating prohibitory orders.

Jitender Singh Tomar, who recently quit as law minister, is already under investigation in fake degrees case.

A similar investigation has also been ordered against AAP’s Karol Bagh MLA Vishesh Ravi.

According to the report, Kondli MLA Manoj Kumar is under investigation for cheating and forgery, instigating security forces and misbehaving with woman.

Uttam Nagar legislator Naresh Baliyan is under probe for distributing liquor during Assembly Elections, while Tilak Nagar MLA Jarnail Singh is facing probe for assaulting public servant.

Somnath Bharti too has been accused of domestic violence by his wife.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi has denied that his force had carried out any such exercise.

“I don’t know from where you got this information. I have not any such counting (of MLAs and cases),” Bassi told reporters.

“If any such cases are pending, our objective is to complete the investigation as fast as possible. Then report based on facts revealed during investigation will be produced before court… it could be chargesheet or cancellation report,” Bassi added.
