Newly elected Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president MK Stalin on Tuesday came down heavily on the BJP-led Central government and the Tamil Nadu government.

Accusing the Centre of destabilising the nation, Stalin said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s regime sectors like education, art, literature, and religion have come under attack.

“Today’s political situation has come as a big challenge. Education, art, literature and religion have been under attack by the authoritative and communal forces. The Union government is trying to destabilise all of it. Judiciary, education, process of governors’ selection, etc have all been given a blow. It is a challenge to secular principles of our country,” he said.

Further cornering the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government in Tamil Nadu, the DMK president accused Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami-led dispensation of “robbing” the state.

” Tamil Nadu government is robbing people unabatedly. We are worried about this. Our first duty would be to free the state from these robbers,” said the DMK president.

The DMK general council elected Stalin as the party president here on Tuesday. A total of 1907 party leaders and workers had either proposed or seconded Stalin’s name for the post.
