Domestic help accuses former MLA of rape, holding her hostage

Kaushlendra Nath Yogi, a former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), has been accused of raping and holding his maid servant hostage at his house in Chinhat area on Lucknow outskirts.

The maid, who was rescued from Yogi’s house in Gaurav Vihar locality on Tuesday, told police that she was forced to consume alcohol, raped and held hostage for two days by the MLA. She somehow managed to inform one of her relatives who alerted the police.

“Prima facie, the allegations seem to be true. We will reach to any conclusion only after seeing the reports of girl’s medical examination,” said Dinesh Yadav, additional superintendent of police (ASP), Trans Gomti.

He said that efforts were on to nab the former MLA who is absconding for now. Police said the victim, who lived in neighboring area with her husband and children, is a native of Faizabad district.

“She was offered job at the Yogi’s residence a year ago, where she used to work from 10 am to 6 pm,” police said. Yogi, was BJP MLA between 2007-12 from Tulsipur seat in Balrampur district of Uttar Pradesh.
