With dreamy eyes, 10 acid attack victims walk the ramp at ‘Iktara Fun Flea Fiesta’

Acid attack victims walk the AV ramp

The ‘Iktara Fun Flea Fiesta’ saw a novel Walk for Cause, fashion show with 10 acid attack victims from Acid Survivors SAAHAS Foundation (ASSF) walking the ramp and sharing their unheard stories.

“This was a walk for self-reliance. We want to give these girls a platform and boost their morale. Their success stories were glorified at this do. We at Iktara believe in cause-based events that make a difference to the society”, said Vivek Gupta, Founder of Iktara Events and Media. The fashion show was organized by Iktara Events and Media in association with Fashion Designer Richa Ranavat and Social Activist Trupti Vora, Maharashtra President of International Human Rights Protection Bureau India and Acid Survivors SAAHAS Foundation (ASSF).

“We want to tell the world that we are not victims but strong survivors”, said one such survivor, Shabbo Shaikh.

These are no ordinary models, and this is no ordinary show. The fact that acid victims, too often overlooked, are a vital part of society is what the organizers intend to do through their stories which will be showcased.

Lalita Bansi, was attacked in 2012 during a wedding in a village, where her two brothers were fighting and she was trying to solve the fight and got attacked in the scuffle.

Saira Khan, Daulat B Khan, Reshma Shaikh  are three such sisters who were attacked in2010 as they owed Rs. 50,000 and they failed to return money on decided time. Shabbo Shaikh was attacked when she was two n half years old and her mom was 30 years old who was then attacked. Mabia Biswas in 2010 was attacked by her husband. Acid Victim Reshma Bano Qureshi also sashayed the ramp.
