India Test cricket captain Virat Kohli looked upbeat and is raring to go against Sri Lanka in the three-match Test series starting from Wednesday. Kohli stated on Tuesday that every member of the Indian team wants to do well in the Test cricket format as they play a lot of ODIs and T20.

Kohli who addressed the media on Tuesday in Sri Lanka stated that, “This (Tests) is one format every member of team wants to do well. We play a lot on other formats.”

The skipper also praised the Lankans and feels they will be competitive and aggressive. “Sri Lanka is a very competitive team. They may not be very demonstrative as others but have the aggression and intent is always there to win,” added Kohli on Tuesday.

Kohli favours the five-bowler strategy in Tests and feels that the key to success is 20 wickets. When asked about his team balance he claimed that, “The basic idea is to get 20 wickets in a Test, thats how one wins, hence five bowlers.”

Kohli feels that modern day cricketers should have hunger in them to win and then it is all about execution. “I think for any cricketer there needs to be a hunger (to win) and then its all about execution,” added the 26-year-old.

India played their last big Test series away against Australia and despite the loss there, Kohli feels his team had actually lacked composure and that they have learnt from it.

“What we lacked in Australia was the composure element. We have learned from it.The guys are now working hard.”
