After rapes, murders of BJP leaders and now killings of two policemen, concerns are again being raised on the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh. The Akhilesh Yadav government has come under attack once again for the lawlessness in the state.
Former SP MP Shahid Siddiqui took a jibe at the party saying no one is safe in UP except for ‘Mulayam’s minister and Azam Khan’s buffaloes’. “Except for Mulayam’s ministers and Azam’s buffaloes, no one else is safe in Uttar Pradesh, be it women, BJP leaders or other party leaders,” Siddiqui said.
“Whenever the SP government comes to power there is violence. We have seen a sequential murder of BJP workers. We see it as a part of a design to terrorise BJP workers as the SP has lost elections very badly,” BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi said.
“The MHA is concerned over the prevailing ‘Law and Order’ situation in Uttar Pradesh. We are closely monitoring the situation in UP,” Home Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted on Monday.
However, the Samajwadi Party remains defiant. It has denied allegations that the death of BJP leaders are connected. The SP also claims the Centre is deliberately targeting them over the killing of BJP leaders in the state.
“Were they really BJP workers? Where is their membership? BJP should say whether they were from the BJP. There is no pattern in these deaths. These murders are being investigate and action will be taken,” SP leader Naresh Agarwal said.
