The devastated parents of the slain teenager Michael Brown, who are shell-shocked over the white police officer Darren Wilson’s account of his altercation with their son, and have lambasted the prosecutor for having “crucified” his character.
Talking to the NBC news, father of the slain black teenager, branded the officer’s account as crazy saying, “who in their right mind would rush or charge at a police officer that has his gun drawn? It sounds crazy.”
Brown’s mother Lesley McSpadden, too, speaking on NBC’s “Today” show, said that Wilson’s statements were like “insult after injury”.
28-year-old Darren Wilson had described Michael Brown as “very powerful” like a demon and claimed that he had come charging at him and grabbed his gun which forced him to shoot at him.
Wilson went scot-free as Missouri Grand Jury acquitted him in the case of August 9 shooting of Michael Brown.
Also, the Governor of Missouri has refused to present the case to a new grand jury to rethink on the police officer’s acquittal, reports the BBC.
The BBC cited a report in the St Louis Pos that quoted the spokesman for state governor Jay Nixon as saying that he would not entertain the idea of bringing in a special prosecutor to present the case to a new grand jury.
The fatal August 9 shooting of a black unarmed teenager named Michael Brown by a white policeman named Darren Wilson in Missouri’s Ferguson had sparked weeks of violence and unrest in the town besides raking up the sensitive issue of racial bias against the blacks.
