Four arrested for practising witchcraft

Four persons including a woman have been arrested for allegedly practising witchcraft with a plan to kill her husband’s first wife and children, police said.

According to a complaint by one Zulfiquar Abdul Hamid Mulla (38), his second wife Khalida Zulfiquar, along with three others were planning to use black magic and kill his first wife Aneesa and their two children, Thane City Police PRO Gajanan Kabdule said.

Mulla also alleged that they also were trying to use black magic on him, he said.

Following the complaint, Khalida Zulfiquar along with Naseem Vasim Khan, Sayeed Rasheed Zulfar and Ubed alias Juber Ahmed Habib Shaikh (who practices witchcraft) were arrested last night while carrying out the act, they said.

A brand new ‘chaddar’ of white and pink colour, a box of sweets, incense sticks, half filled bottle of perfume, 23 lemons and other items were recovered from the spot, Kabdule said.

On searching Juber, a small box usually used for black magic, one box filled with Kajal, a mobile phone and also a picture of the first wife and children of the complainant found from his possession, he said.

All the four accused have been charged under Section 2 (1) (c) of Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practises and Black Magic Act, 2013 and also Section 34 of the IPC, Kabdule added.
