A four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her father’s acquaintance in Nawabganj area, police said on Wednesday.
24-year-old Sanjay, a vendor by profession, was asked by the minor girl’s father to drop his daughter home last evening, following which he took her to an isolated lane and raped her, they said.
When the girl began screaming, locals rushed to the spot and beat up the accused, police said, adding he was later handed over to the police.
The girl was bleeding excessively following which she was admitted to a hospital where she will undergo a medical examination, they said.
The matter is under investigation, they added.
Meanwhile, irate locals protested over the incident by blocking a road.
