Gruesome dengue deaths

Student’s death due to dengue is causing concern in the metro city. With the outbreak of monsoon rains more and more cases of dengue will be detected and hospitals in Mumbai should be ready to treat them. Residents of the city and the state government lack civic sense and that is the major reason for so many cases of Dengue deaths reported in the commercial capital and adjoining cities. This is not the first time the city lacks in civic amenities and accumulation of garbage is the root cause for all troubles. According to municipal corporation officials, over 2,000 people have tested positive for the vector-borne disease. It is a mystery that the death toll as per the official data still stands at one point even though the deaths were reported from every nook and corner of the city. It is time to prune up Government machinery to assure the people that no more deaths occur in future. Government hospitals should have sufficient bed facilities and proper medical facilities to control Dengue, Malaria, Cholera and other water bound diseases. Spitting in open should be curbed and heavy penalty should be imposed on offenders. Use of plastics should to be totally abolished like in Kerala so that clogging of drainage during monsoon rains can be totally prevented.
