Husbands of 10 BMC corporators in poll fray

Husbands of 10 corporators in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) are in fray for the Maharashtra Assembly polls, which are set to witness an interesting contest between relatives and among political dynasties on several seats.

Former minister Chandrakant Handore of Congress is seeking re-election from Chembur Assembly constituency. His wife Sangeeta is a local corporator.
In Vile Parle, Shashikant Patkar (Shiv Sena) and Parag Alavani (BJP) are pitted against each other. Their wives Shubhada and Jyoti, respectively, are sitting corporators from different wards in the area.

Patkar and Alavani are former corporators who had to give up their wards after they were reserved for women.

Now, their respective parties have nominated them for the October 15 Assembly Elections.

Besides, Mangesh Tulaskar from Kurla seat, Sanjay Potnis from Kalina and Hemant Doke from Wadala are also contesting the elections. Their wives Manali, Sunaina and Alka, respectively, are local corporators.

Congress corporator Seema Mahulkar’s husband Rajendra is the party candidate in Anushaktinagar.

From Andheri East, the BJP has fielded Sunil Yadav, who is the husband of local corporator Sandhya Yadav.

NCP’s Sharad Pawar is contesting from Chandivali. His wife Savita is the local corporator.

Beside, corporator Rupali Raorane’s husband Ajit is the NCP candidate from Dindoshi.
