‘I love you ISIS’ – seen on US military command’s hacked Twitter page

In a blunt joke-cum-warning, unidentified supporters of the extremist group Islamic State on Monday hacked the Youtube and Twitter accounts of US military’s Central Command and posted comments like “Love you ISIS” and “US soldiers, we are coming. Watch your back!”.

In what the US Central Command cal;led as an act of cyber vandalism, alleged ISIS sympathisers hacked their Twitter and YouTube sites for approximately 30 minutes.

The accounts were restored after half an hour.

The hackers replaced the military command’s logo with the one featuring a masked fighter and words like “Cyber Caliphate” and “I love you ISIS”.

The hackers reportedly posted some internal details like phone directory of military officials and pictures and powerplant slides related to North Korea and China, the AFP reported.

The CyberCaliphate “is already here, we are in your PCs, in each military base,” tweeted the IS hackers.

“Muslim Hackers! Unite for jihad! Let us struggle with America!,” read another tweet.

The US CENTCOM, which tackles US military’s operations in Iraq and Syria, however denied that any classified detail had been compromised and also refuted any of the posted materials belonging to the US military’s servers.

“CENTCOM’s operational military networks were not compromised and there was no operational impact to US Central Command,” the military command said in a statement.

“Our initial assessment is that no classified information was posted and that none of the information posted came from CENTCOM’s server or social media sites,” it added.

An investigation has been launched into the incident.

The latest incident is yet another reminder of how dangerously the ISIS influence is spreading its wings as thousands of foreign fighters have fled to Iraq and Syria to fight with the extremists. Also, recently in France, the gunman named Amedy Coulibaly who staged supermarket siege, had also pledged allegiance to the ISIS.

The Islamic State have established an Islamic Caliphate across occupied parts of Iraq and Syria and continue to wage a propaganda campaign on social media to impact vulnerable minds.
