An IAS aspirant has been arrested by police from Guna for allegedly supplying imposters for pre-medical test in 2009.

The accused Vaid R Singh, a resident of Gorakhpur in UP, was absconding since 2009 as police arrested him from railway station.

The MPPEB scam, which included PMT, rocked Madhya Pradesh when it was unearthed in 2013.

Several senior BJP leaders and other politicians are accused of their involvement in the scam.

The probe into the MPPEP scam started after a PIL alleging that 300 ineligible candidates got into the PMT merit list was filed in the Indore bench of high court.

After the probe, the special task force (STF) revealed that candidates were getting admissions through fraudulent means in medical colleges even before 2013.

According to police, the accused has allegedly arranged Mohammad Javed from Kanpur and Nirmal Verma from Faizabad to appear in PMT in place of Hemant Rawat of Shivpuri and Rawal Jamra of Dhar respectively.

Singh’s name came to light after Javed, Verma, Rawat and Jamra were arrested by police in 2009.

The probe by STF is being monitored by a special investigating team constituted by MP high court.

Dr. Jagdish Sagar, an alleged kingpin of impersonation scam has already been arrested and jailed.
