After the BJP Tamil Nadu president Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Monday nominated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Nobel Peace Award ahead of his sincere work in the world’s largest healthcare scheme Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana – ‘Ayushman Bharat’, it has put the netizens in a fix to see the ruling party taking decisions of unsound mind forgetting the peace destruction acts of Modi.
Along with the BJP Tamil Nadu president, his husband Dr. P Soundararajan who is a professor, Head of Department and Senior Consultant in Nephrology at a private university in the state, has also nominated the Prime Minister for the high-status honour. Soundararajan said in a press release, “This path-breaking initiative of visionary Prime Minister Modi will transform the lives of millions of people especially the underprivileged and vulnerable.” Later, Soundararajan also urged for all healthcare providers in India and overseas to join her in nominating Prime Minister Modi for Nobel Peace Prize for 2019 which starts in September and has a deadline of January 31, 2019.
Former Bombay High Court judge BG Kolse-Patil exclaimed,“Perhaps, Tamil Nadu BJP president does not know the background of Narendra Modi. In the future, Modi might be in the jail or outside the country. No sensible citizen will extend their support to Soundararajan’s demand for Noble Peace Prize to Modi. Nobel Award is given to those who have made big contribution to serve humanity and worked for peace and welfare happiness for humans.”
So far, unconventional persons like Mother Teresa have received Nobel Peace Prize in India who was known for her charitable and selfless work. Another Ghanaian diplomat Kofi Atta Annan in 2001 received the award, died on August 18, 2018, who worked to resolve differences in the Middle East countries on the principles of ‘land for peace’. While this time the nomination of PM Modi for this award has been maligned in this action, as he bears a responsibility for some of the worst religious violence ever seen in the independent India. The Gujarat massacres have not safely been consigned to the past; there has been no “clean chit” for Modi. On February 27, 2002, a train coach carrying Hindu pilgrims caught fire in Godhra station in Gujarat where 58 people had died. Within hours and without a shred of evidence, Modi declared that the Pakistani secret services had been to blame. It led into a mass bloodshed: 1,000 dead on official estimates, more than 2,000 by independent tallies.
BJP spokesperson Shirish Boralkar stated, “We appreciate the nomination demanded by Tamilisai Soundararajan. The Ayushman Bharat Yojana is a historical decision taken by Modi which will benefit over 50 crore people in the country. Highlighting the false background of Modi is just a conspiracy and false allegations by the opposition. There is no evidence against Modi and he got a clean chit in the Godhra riots during Congress regime only.”
In 2006, there were even more undernourished children in Gujarat than in 1993, which Modi had claimed was because the middle-class girls are “beauty-conscious” has raised many eyebrows. Looking at the work of Modi after he became Prime Minister, the banning of beef in order to protect the Gau Matas had created a Muslim-hating mobocracy and later to it, there has been an increase in the cases of mob-lynching every now and then.
Congress spokesperson and actress Khushbu Sundar commented, “Demand for Nobel Prize is an individual choice of a person. People can demand anything. There is nothing wrong to demand for something. It is nothing but showing foolishness to have such demands. Not only Godhra riots, but Modi’s name has cropped up in many other scams including the Rafale scam. Despite that, if anyone demands a Nobel Peace Award for him we can only give sympathy to them.”
However, the experts believe that Modi has more than once condemned the thuggish violence of the cow terrorists but either his rebukes have been too gentle or his party leaders are just ignoring him. Given that the Prime Minister is a strongman who rules the government and controls the party, it’s tough to believe that any message from him would be ignored.
AAP Spokesperson Shyam Sonar asserted, “Despite the fact that during the tenure of the Modi government many riots and murders occurred, Tamilisai Soundararajan demanded Nobel Peace Prize for him then it is nothing but the face of fascism. It is a strategy for polarisation. However, Ayushman Bharat Yojana does not benefit the small income group directly, but is offered through the insurance companies. Nobel Peace Award has many criteria as per the international universal laws but PM Narendra Modi is not eligible for those. This demand is a new political strategy for creating an environment for Modi to win the elections.”
Until now, Rabindranath Tagore was honoured in the field of literature, doctor CV Raman in the field of physics, Amartya Sen in economics has also won Nobel prize in India. Hence, the question which arises here that does our PM Modi deserve the Nobel Peace Prize?
Supreme Court has acquitted PM Modi of all charges made against him in Gujarat riots.
This case has run through Indian courts for over a decade and there is no evidence of Modi having criminal culpability here. Over 10 years of Congress government and Supreme Court’s teams have not found anything criminal in his activities.
