Javadekar, Fadnavis review Maharashtra projects

Minister for Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Prakash Jawadekar on Thursday said he would look into Maharashtra’s projects with an open mind in a transparent manner, and convey approvals as soon as possible.

Javadekar held a review meeting with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Mumbai.

The meeting came in the backdrop of hopes of new government in Maharashtra fast-tracking some of the key infrastructure development projects, an official said.

CRZ related issues, construction of coastal roads in Mumbai, Metro II project from Charkop-Mankhurd, approvals for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Smarak in the Arabian Sea and the Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial at Dadar, were among the key Mumbai projects that came up for discussion.

Javadekar promised to look into the state’s projects with an open mind in a transparent manner, and convey approvals as soon as possible.

He said the online application process has enabled applicants to track the status of their projects on real time basis. So far, 270 applications were received, he said.

Fadnavis said the state government will submit a consolidated report to the Union ministry in 15 days on environmental clearance pending for various projects of state government.

Maharashtra Chief Secretary Swadheen Kshatriya, senior officials of the Maharashtra Government, MMRDA, BMC, MSRDC, JNPT attended the meeting.
